Microsoft OneNote Gets Hefty Updates With Great Features For iOS, Android And PCs

Microsoft's popular OneNote application just got a host of neat new features, receiving hefty updates for iOS, Android and PCs.

One of the highlights of OneNote is that it offers cross-platform functionality, which makes it attract a wider range of users. Microsoft now rolled out notable improvements for several platforms, helping users be more productive.

The new updates started rolling out for the iOS, online, Windows and Android versions of OneNote, so here's what's in store for each platform.

OneNote for Android

The Android version of OneNote now gets badges, which are similar to how chat heads from Facebook Messenger appear on your Android device. The OneNote badges float on the display once you launch them from the notification area, allowing users to quickly add notes while doing other things on their devices. The badge support will roll out in phases and may take a few weeks to hit all devices.

OneNote for iOS

One of the greatest new features OneNote for iOS gains with this new update is the ability to record audio and include it in your notes. This could come particularly in handy for students or teachers who want to get quick voice notes on the go. At the same time, the iOS version of OneNote also gets the much-touted 3D Touch support, which means that it now works with the pressure-sensitive displays of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.

OneNote for Windows

The Windows version of OneNote 2016 now allows users to embed online videos into their notes, albeit not many sources are in the mix for now. Microsoft promised to support more video sources soon, as well as more platforms. At this time, OneNote 2016 supports embedded videos only from YouTube, Office Mix and Vimeo, and only for Office 365 Home and Personal users. Support for OneNote Online, Mac, Windows 10, Android and iOS will come later on.

OneNote Online

The online version of OneNote now supports file attachments, which can also prove quite useful for students and teachers, as well as many other users.
