Earlier this week, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation released the first trailer for its upcoming animated film, Justice League vs. Teen Titans.
Now, that film has an official release date and artwork for its Blu-ray cover.
Fans can grab a digital download of the film on March 29, but the DVD and Blu-ray version arrives on store shelves on April 12.
The two companies also released artwork from the Blu-ray version of the movie, which shows the Justice League's Superman at the top of the cover, front and center, flanked by Batman and Wonder Woman, perhaps mirroring imagery from this year's live-action movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Then, under the title are the Teen Titans.
"The demonic forces of Trigon infiltrate the minds and bodies of the Justice League, turning the veteran super heroes against their youthful counterparts in the all-new DC Universe Original Movie," reads the movie's official description.
The DVD will offer an "exclusive sneak peek at the next DC Universe original movie." However, the Blu-ray offers additional content, including a documentary about the Teen Titans and their 50-year history and featurettes on the telepath Raven and the villain Trigon. The Blu-ray will also contain two classic episodes of DC cartoons.
Although everyone is mostly familiar with the Justice League, the Teen Titans aren't as well known, even though the group debuted in DC Comics in 1964. That first team featured Robin (Dick Grayson), Kid Flash (Wally West) and Aqualad (Garth). Eventually, Wonder Girl (Donna Troy) joined up, followed by other superhero sidekicks, including Speedy (Roy Harper), Aquagirl and Bumblebee.
Teen Titans didn't take off, though, until the 1980s, with the New Teen Titans by writer Marv Wolfman and artist George Perez. That series aged the characters into young adulthood and added Raven, Starfire, Beast Boy and Cyborg.
Since then, the Teen Titans have starred in a variety of ongoing comic book series and eventually got an animated show, that in turn, resulted in more comic books. Although there was discussion about a live-action Teen Titans movie or television series, nothing surfaced from those talks.
