Loot Crate, the monthly geek-oriented subscription box that ships various T-shirts, collectibles and other goodies to the doors of thousands every month, is getting a new gamer-centric box.
It's called Loot Gaming, and it joins the rank of other boxes offered by Loot Crate, like Loot Anime and Loot Pets. You may be wondering to yourself, "don't the regular Loot Crates already come with lots of gaming-oriented items?"
You would be correct, and that will continue in the future. Loot Gaming, however, will be a "higher tier" of gaming merchandise than is found in the standard Loot Crates, according to Loot Crate founder Matt Arevalo.
"It's a different tier of item in the same category," Arevalo tells Game Informer. "Whereas you can expect a really cool T-shirt in a loot crate, you would expect to find other kinds of wearables in Loot Gaming that are appropriate for the price point."
Just like regular Loot Crates, each month's box will have a theme. First up will be "Legacy," which will feature exclusive items from a number of major game franchises, like Street Fighter, Halo and The Elder Scrolls.
Loot Gaming will cost $25 a month, $5 more than the standard Loot Crates. Buyers can expect four to six premium items (many of them exclusive to Loot Crate) every month. Each box is said to contain items of at least $60 in retail value. In addition to the merchandise, buyers will also receive a Loot Gaming pin and a booklet made to look like a video game manual.
You can sign up now to receive notifications for when preorders on Loot Gaming goes live. Arevalo tells Polygon the first Loot Gaming crate will be limited in supply. The boxes are expected to ship this spring.
