Disney's New 'Tron' Game Headed to Xbox One and PlayStation 4

Although the world has made advances in virtual reality, we're still not quite able to step into the world of Disney's Tron. However, while we're waiting, there is a Tron game we can play, Tron Run/r.

The good news is that, although the game is already available for PC on Steam Early Access, it's also coming soon to both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

As its name suggests, Tron Run/r is an action-adventure running game that allows players to create a customized avatar and then take part in activities seen in both of the Tron movies in those familiar neon-colored environments. There will be 30 different levels to play through, as well as a Stream mode that mixes up levels to create more difficult ones. Some levels take place on foot, while others take place on lightcycles.

Tron Run/r was originally announced at the PC Game Awards in December. At the time, there was only one mode available: Runner. That version is currently available through Steam Early Access for $9.99, but the final release version for PC will likely cost more.

"Kevin Flynn ... he is a legend," reads the game's Steam page. "Space Paranoids, Tron the whole deal. The man came up with so many ideas. The world needs to see them. See what they tried to hide. So much unseen for so long. Here it is. The truth. Run Program!"

The game also supports leaderboards, so players can see how well they're doing in the game, compared with their friends and other players. There are also power-ups that players can earn, as well as combat sequences.

In a move to keep the game feeling authentic to the movies, Tron Run/r also has music by Giorgio Moroder and Raney Shockne, as well as remixed songs from Autechre, Bibio, Plaid, patten, Joywave and Darkstar.

Anyone attending PAX South this weekend in Texas or the ESPN Winter X Games in Colorado will get a shot at seeing the game in action before it launches.

Tron Run/r will become available on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Feb. 16 for $20.
