Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare showing up at Microsoft's Gamescom conference came as no surprise, nor was the announced bundle and the Advanced Warfare themed Xbox One console. The big surprise here is the plan to introduce a 1-terabyte hard drive in the console for just $499.
In our eyes, the bundle looks great, the only possible issue some might find is the fact that it doesn't come with Kinect. Just imagine what a Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Xbox One and Kinect would look like.
We can, and in our thoughts, it looks glorious.
Apart from the massive 1-terabyte hard drive inside the console, Microsoft is throwing in the standard Xbox One stereo headset and the digital version of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. We expect this to be available on the drive, so gamers shouldn't have to download anything come launch day.
Since the launch of both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 back in 2013, we've wondered on several occasions as to when Microsoft and Sony would give to gamers a console with a 1-terabyte hard drive inside. Some folks even believed that both consoles should have launched with a 1-terabyte hard drive, and now we know it could have been done and launched at the same price point.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is the latest addition to the franchise. The title is being developed by Sledgehammer Games, as the studio hopes to wipe the bad taste of Ghost from the mouth of gamers worldwide.
We've seen several Advanced Warfare gameplay, and it looks a lot similar to Titanfall with all the jet pack actions going on. There's no wall-run, and maneuvering with the jet-pack doesn't come off as smooth when compared to Titanfall, but it does look fun regardless. We can also say the graphics is better than Titanfall, but that is to be expected since Titanfall's engine is quite ancient.
We also saw similarities to Battlefield 4. There's a particular map that is situated on or near the sea, and at certain times, a tsunami will rise up and slam into parts of the map. This is quite similar to a Battlefield 4 map called Flood, though the flooding is triggered by the players and not automatically.
At the end of the day, however, we were quite impressed with what we've seen. Advanced Warfare appears to be a lot better than Ghost, and that is the most important thing for gamers right now.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and the bundle are expected to launch on Nov. 3, 2014.
