It looks like Roli's MIDI controller just got a massive upgrade.
The London-based tech startup has released the latest version of its Seaboard Rise line, the Seaboard Rise 49, only four months after the two-octave Rise 25. From the garnered details, the updated, four-octave board looks like it's in a key all its own.
"When we released the Rise 25, our goal was to establish it as a must-have tool for the contemporary musician," said Roli CEO and founder Roland Lamb in an official statement. "The response of creators and critics alike has far exceeded our expectations. We're thrilled to be able to complement the portability and power of the Rise 25 with the new musical possibilities that will be afforded by the Rise 49. The Seaboard is becoming not just an interface, but a new category of instruments that opens up an ever-wider range of creative possibilities."
The Rise 49 operates with a Bitwig 8-Track digital audio workstation compatible with Equator, the synthesizer app Roli rolled out this past November, which enables the controller to sample an amalgamation of sounds, as well as Roli's iOS- and Android-friendly Noise app. An added bonus? The software is free with the Bluetooth wireless hardware.
The Rise 49 is now available for preorder on Roli's website at $1,199 USD, and is expected to ship in late February.
