Hafþór Júlíus "Thor" Björnsson is just breaking record after record as he continues to prove that he is no ordinary strongman but the world's strongest man by going against record holders and winning against them. This time, Thor battled it out with the winner of the "World's Strongest Man" title in 2014, Zydrunas Savickas from Lithuania, by carrying two refrigerators to a distance of 20 meters or about 65 feet in 19.6 seconds.
Björnsson, who plays Gregor Clegane or "The Mountain" in HBO's "Game of Thrones," is an active competitor in strongman competitions and a record holder for his strength.
The record-breaking feat was captured with a live audience during the Guinness World Records Italian Show and was uploaded on YouTube on Jan. 15. It shows Björnsson and Savickas each having to carry two refrigerators on their shoulders, weighing in at 450 kilograms or about 992 pounds, and carrying it 20 meters away in order to gain the "Fastest 20 m Carrying Two Fridges" title.
Both of the men did their best, but it seems that Savickas has finally found a worthy adversary in Björnsson. As seen from the video clip below, Savickas had a good start but he also needed to take a moment to put down the fridges as he neared the 20-meter mark, which has caused him the extra seconds. In comparison, Björnsson carried both fridges straight to the finish line without stopping.
Savickas looked disappointed with his performance afterwards when Björnsson was named as the winner but, really, not many can say they held their ground against The Mountain and lived to tell the tale.
Not even Dorne's Prince Oberyn Martell could.
On Nov. 28, 2015, Björnsson also broke one of his Guinness World Records for Keg Toss when he successfully tossed a 33-pound keg over a 23-feet raised clearing pole. The previous record for Keg Toss was with a 27-pound keg thrown over 27 feet and he was also the record holder.
It's really such an impressive feat for Björnsson, but he doesn't seem like he wants to stop there. This year, he aims to take the first place in "The World's Strongest Man" competition.
