In celebration of the upcoming video game release of LEGO Marvel's Avengers, the game's developer announced on Wednesday that PlayStation gamers will be getting exclusive Ant-Man and Captain America downloadable content for free.
Developed by Traveller's Tales and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, LEGO Marvel's Avengers is the follow-up to the 2013 LEGO Marvel Super Heroes title. This time around, LEGO Marvel's Avengers will give gamers the ability to play its main story missions, minigames, open world areas like S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters, the Burton family farm, and New York City, making it the ultimate playground for LEGO franchise lovers.
LEGO Marvel's Avengers allows play with over 100 Marvel characters, including Thor, Iron Man, Black Widow and the Hulk — each with their own abilities. The title will feature six Marvel movies from its Universe, including Avengers: Age of Ultron and Thor: The Dark World.
And the number of films that is featured in the game will increase by two with the release of two newly announced DLC packs for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.
Traveller's Tales (TT Games) announced in a blog post on Wednesday that the first free DLC for PlayStation gamers includes content from upcoming film Captain America: Civil War film.
The DLC pack also includes nine characters featured in the movie, including: Captain America, Iron Man (Mark 46 armor), Black Panther, Winter Soldier, Falcon, War Machine, Scarlet Witch, Crossbones and Agent 13.
Players will be able to use their new characters in the main game in both its linear storyline and in the open world locations.
The second DLC pack features the Ant-Man Character and Level Pack that is based on the Ant-Man film. The DLC features a new level from a section of the movie, along with 11 characters, including: Ant-Man (Scott Lang), Ant-Man (Hank Pym), Ant-Thony (Flying Ant), Cassie Lang, Darren Cross, Scott Lang, Hank Pym, Hope Van Dyne, Luis, The Wasp (Janet Van Dyne), and Yellowjacket.
Players will be able to fly around as Ant-Thony both in the DLC level and in the main game.
Arthur Parsons from TT Games also reminds gamers to try out the new Team Ups feature, which allows the player to have their characters works together to perform combo moves when battling the baddies. And with all these characters, the possibilities are endless.
The Captain America: Civil War DLC will be available at the game's launch later this month. The Ant-Man Character and Level Pack will be available later this spring.
LEGO Marvel's Avengers will be released on Jan. 26 for PS4, PS3, PS Vita Xbox One, Xbox 360, Wii U, and 3DS.
