Having one less step to take is usually a welcomed feature on the Internet.
Microsoft hopes that's the case, as it's embedding a speed tool directly into Bing searches so users don't have to take the extra step of clicking on an Internet speed test elsewhere.
VentureBeat.com is reporting that Microsoft has been experimenting with its new speed test tool in Bing searches to cut down on users' last few steps when searching for the speed of their Internet connection.
"We're always testing new experiences for Bing, which includes the Speed Test experience," a Microsoft spokesperson told VentureBeat. "We have nothing further to share at this time."
As of now, if you type in "Internet speed test" on Bing, you'll get a special speed test widget built into the top right of your search page.
If you type in "speedtest" on Bing, the speed tool will also appear.
Search engine users — which is seemingly everyone who uses the Internet — have seen calculator, currency conversion tools and games embedded into search engines before.
But Bing successfully launching the speed tool would mean Microsoft beat rival Google to the punch of including it in a search engine.
This gives new meaning to the phrase think fast.
