Bioshock Infinite's floating city of Columbia instantly became an iconic location when the game first released back in 2013. It was the spitting image of an American utopia, a very literal city on a hill for the world to look up to as it floated above North America. But beneath its cheery exterior lurked the evils of racism, violence and deception.
In other words, Columbia would be right at home in the Wasteland of Fallout 4. One gamer has used Fallout 4's extensive settlement building system and, with the help of a few mods, crafted a stunning Fallout version of Bioshock Infinite's city in the clouds.
The results are astounding. Modder GPG Shepard uses Fallout's existing statues of colonial heroes and turbines to great effect, mimicking the look of Columbia. Posters directly imported from Bioshock Infinite (thanks to a mod created by GPG Shepard) can be seen hanging up in the various shops around town, and American flags and banners can be seen adorning houses in the floating city. Each little detail helps give the city an authentic Bioshock feel that fans will no doubt appreciate.
As the video takes users through a tour of town, wondering how GPG Shepard managed to craft the entire thing is enough to make even the greatest Fallout 4 settlement builder cower in fear. There are so many power lines, turbines and generators, all atop a series of massive, interconnected floating platforms, that it's simply amazing to know that somebody built it almost entirely from scratch, even if a few mods were used. GPG Shepard says 99 percent of the components used in building the floating settlement come from Fallout 4 itself, so players who want to recreate the city in their game can do so (if you can figure out how to make it fly.)
