'Wired' Magazine Releases Special Edition With Lex Luthor On The Cover

Every Superman fan knows Lex Luthor, the brilliant villain who always had a way of bringing the Man of Steel to his knees in comic books, on film and on television. However, they've never seen Lex Luthor like this: on the cover of Wired magazine.

A CES-goer posted a photo of the special edition cover to Instagram: the cover teases an interview with the criminal mastermind, as portrayed by actor Jesse Eisenberg. This special edition of Wired comes just months before the premiere of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, a film in which the character appears.

Wired ran the "interview" with Lex Luthor last month on its website, written by the fictional Ron Troupe.

Although some fans still aren't fond of Eisenberg taking on the role, everyone involved with the film, and Eisenberg himself, promises that his depiction of the villain will not disappoint.

In Batman v Superman, Luthor appears as a young prodigy, a genius set to take over the world, Bill Gates and Steve Jobs style. This is a departure from how viewers have previously seen Luthor.

"When you're doing a movie like this and playing a character that's already been played, the further away it is from those previous incarnations the better," said Eisenberg to the L.A. Times. "Because chances are, especially with a guy like Gene Hackman or Kevin Spacey, you're not going to get favorably compared."

Batman v Superman director Zack Snyder believes that Eisenberg brings something scary to the role, too: something fans familiar with Luthor will appreciate.

"I feel like once [Eisenberg] found out who Lex was he embraced it," said Snyder. "Once you kind of start digging into Lex, it's a bit of a scary thing to be that guy. I don't think he just goes 'Oh, I'll just be that guy and then when I go home I'm not him.' I think the thing with Jessie is he wasn't immune to the reality of playing a super-scary character."

Fans will get to see Eisenberg's brand of scary as Lex Luthor when Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens in theaters on March 25.
