Computer hardware and electronics company Asus announced two new series that feature a lineup of mini PCs aimed for the workplace or home at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on Thursday.
The models in the VivoMini UN65 Series, VivoMini UN65 and UN65H, are powered by sixth-generation Intel Core processors to pack high performance and energy efficiency, with up to a 1 TB 2.5-inch hard disk, up to 256 GB M.2 SSD, or the option to have a combination of both.
The VivoMini UN56 Series provides 4K/UHD visuals, perfect for playing movies, and works with any display, HDMI TV or projector. Consumers can stream music and movies or control the mini PCs remotely thanks to 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Asus' Media Streamer and Remote Go! software.
It also supports up to three independent displays using the HDMI and DisplayPort++ to provide the consumer more screen space at work for multitasking. The VivoMini UN65 and UN65H also feature a USB Battery Charging Specification 1.2 on their side USB ports to provide two times faster charging for devices.
The VivoMini UN Series is also available as a barebone solution, so that the user can customize the OS, Wi-Fi card and storage options.
The models in the VivoMini UN65 Series have a spun-metal effect finish with Zen-inspired concentric circles and smooth, rounded edges and come in a glossy Midnight Blue color.
Asus also revealed its VivoMini UN45 series, which have a 131 by 131 by 42 mm chassis and also take after the design of the VivoMini UN65 series. The VivoMini UN45 and UN45H are available with either quad- or dual-core Intel Celeron processors for desktop-grade performance. They operate in silence because of their fanless design and low-power processors, making them ideal for the office.
This series has native M.2 support for high-speed data storage, with an optional PCIe SSD enabling data transfer speed up to to 10 Gbits per second.
Like the UN65, the UN45 supports 4K/UHD displays for home theater use, with support of up to three displays for multiple windows, mirroring content and extending a window across multiple displays. It also features 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Asus Media Streamer and RemoteGo! app support, as well as the the Battery Charging Specification 1.2 for charging mobile devices.
Both the UN65H and UN45H models have dual-storage-bay designs for added storage, and both series can run Asus Business Manager, a software suite designed for small business owners with maintenance and servicing.
Asus' new series are ideal for point-of-sale terminals, kiosk displays and small office computing platforms, or to be used as a home theater PC.
