HTC now has a new pink color option for the One A9 which the company has made available through their site in Taiwan.
Released in November 2015, the One A9 initially came in four color options that include Deep Garnet, Topaz Gold, Opal Silver and Carbon Gray. The newly added pink color version of the smartphone can be seen on the company's Taiwan site, but not in other markets.
This means that for now, the One A9's pink option is initially available to customers in Taiwan.
The pink One A9 shares identical specs and pricing with the other color versions. The Taiwan site shows the phone's 16 GB version as having a price point of NT$14,900 (about $450) and the 32 GB model as being priced at NT$15,900 (about $480).
Last month, the One A9 became one of those lucky handsets to receive the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update. It is the first non-Nexus device that features the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS out of the box and is also bound to receive monthly updates. The 6.0.1 version brought minor bug fixes and performance enhancements to the handset, along with more than 200 emojis.
HTC has yet to reveal the sales figures for the One A9 since itws release, but the handset stirred plenty of interest. DigiTimes said that the One A9's affordable price has definitely made the handset a key factor in achieving a sales increase from several markets. The surge was marked at 14.9 percent, although it's worth pointing out that the improved sales performance was evaluated month-to-month, not year-to-year.
Overall, the year's revenues are estimated to reach around $3.5 billion, which is a 33 percent drop from the figures recorded in 2014.
Perhaps the most striking feature that makes the One A9 a strong smartphone rival is how it is being described as an iPhone lookalike. However, Jack Tong, president of HTC North Asia, stressed that the company is not copying the iPhone since it had created a uni-body metal-clad phone back in 2013.
Tong added that in reality, it is Apple which did the copying based on the handset's antenna design on the rear.
"The A9 is made thinner and more lightweight than our previous metal-clad phones," said Tong. "This is a change and evolution, and we're not copying."
Apart from the new pink color option, other interesting features of the One A9 include a Snapdragon 617 processor, a RAM of 2 GB, internal storage of 16 GB, 13-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel front camera. The device comes with a 5-inch Full HD display that has a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels.
