Director Zack Snyder continues to have fun with fans eagerly awaiting news and pictures from the set of "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice." His latest tweet continues that trend, combining the world of DC Comics with a galaxy far, far away.
Synder tweeted out the below image of Batman and R2-D2 taking a stroll through the desert with the caption "Batman & R2BIN" on Saturday, invoking images of C-3PO and R2 navigating through the harsh Tatooine desert as seen in "Star Wars: A New Hope." He directed the tweet towards Bad Robot's twitter handle, the production company owned by J.J. Abram's which is currently working on the next installment in the "Star Wars" saga.
While few believed the tweet to be anything other than a little lighthearted fun, the picture is a little misleading. Many thought that Ben Affleck dressed as Batman and a life-size R2-D2 were actually on the set of "Batman v. Superman," but in actuality both of the characters are simply toys posed to look like they are walking.
During the week of San Diego Comic-Con, Snyder tweeted out an image of the Man of Steel himself, Henry Cavill, but not in his usual Superman attire. Instead, Cavill was dressed like a sith from "Star Wars," complete with red lightsaber and menacing look. While the chances of DC characters and the heroes of "Star Wars" ever crossing paths on the big screen are virtually zero, at least Snyder knows how to have a little fun.
