Fans hoped that Zack Snyder's "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice" might show up at the Warner Bros. panel at Comic-Con 2014, but they didn't dare suspect that there would be footage shown from the film given that it's still two years away from release.
Not only was there a clip from the film shown, director Snyder also showed off a photo of Gal Gadot in character as Wonder Woman, marking the first time her character design has been seen.
According to a description from Empire, the very brief teaser clip began with Ben Affleck's Batman, suited up in big, bulky armor reminiscent of his armor in Frank Miller's classic comic "The Dark Knight Returns." Batman stands on a Gotham rooftop in the rain, where some sort of visor function in his suit causes his eyes to turn solid white and glow. He removes a tarp from a large object to reveal the Bat signal.
We follow Batman's gaze along the beam of light to see Henry Cavill's Superman hovering in the night sky, right in the center of the Bat silhouette. Superman looks seriously pissed as his eyes light up red and he turns to look down at Batman.
Affleck, Cavill and Gadot joined Snyder on stage after the footage, where they waved at the crowd and posed for a selfie with moderator Chris Hardwicke. Strangely, the segment abruptly ended and the three stars marched offstage, having said nothing to the crowd. Snyder followed, and as soon as he was backstage, he tweeted a proper look at the Wonder Woman image that attendees saw in Hall H. You can view it below.
DC Comics fans may notice some strong similarities between the live-action Wonder Woman costume and the character's redesigned uniform as seen in the New 52 comics. Unsurprisingly, the movie version seems to feature more muted colors -- which fits well alongside Cavill's Superman outfit — but otherwise the differences are minimal.
