'Dragon Ball Z's' Goten And Trunks Turn Into A Car For Ford's Latest Ad

You didn't think Ford would only make one Dragon Ball Z ad, did you? After hiring the original voice actors for the show's English dub, it's only natural for Ford to get their money's worth, especially after the success of their first DBZ themed Ford Focus ad.

This time around Ford is using the wildly popular anime to promote the Ford Fusion. Hmmm. Fusion. Where have I heard that word before?

Oh, right. In Dragon Ball Z. If you've followed the show, you might know what happens next.

In the ad below, you'll see Goten and Trunks perform the now infamous fusion dance from the show. Normally this would turn them into Gotenks, a combination of both warrior children who, with their powers combined, just might stand a chance against the evil Majin Buu.

In this Ford ad, however, the results are a little...different. Instead of Gotenks, the two saiyans fuse into, you guessed it, a Ford Fusion. The Z fighters like Master Roshi and Piccolo gasp in awe at the new, animated car before their eyes.

It's all a little bizarre but it definitely works. The Ford Focus ad has almost 1.5 million views on YouTube, proving that DBZ fans are, apparently, a demographic worth marketing to. What vehicles will Ford advertise next with the power of DBZ? The Ford Mustang? Fiesta? F-150? It's worth noting that Goku, the main character of Dragon Ball Z, has yet to appear in the ads. Perhaps his voice actor wasn't available? Or maybe Ford is just saving him for a future advertisement. Regardless, these ads are certainly more entertaining than your average car commercial. You can watch the full 24-second ad below.
