The viral marketing campaign for the upcoming Assassin's Creed movie starring Michael Fassbender looks to be kicking off, as the film's official Twitter account has blasted out the image of an Abstergo business card, complete with a working email and phone number.
Of course, fans have wasted no time in trying to call and email the fictional Abstergo Industries executive officer by the name of Alan Rikkin, whose organization is actually a front for the insidious Templars, which has been at war with the Assassins for centuries.
According to one fan, here's the response he received upon emailing the address featured on the card:
The same fan called the phone number on the card as well, only to receive a similar "out of office" response. Seems like Rikkin will return on March 25, 2016. Could that be the date we may see a trailer for the film? It's certainly a possibility. The Assassin's Creed movie is set to release on Dec. 21, 2016, so a March debut for its trailer certainly isn't out of the question. If nothing else, the viral marketing campaign may pick up on that date if Rikkin does indeed return to his office.
The business card also lists a website, Abstergo.com, but so far, there is nothing on the site aside from the company logo and a list of what we presume are Abstergo office locations around the world.
It's not much to go on yet, but already, this is a fun piece of marketing for a film that revolves around conspiracy theories and ancient hidden organizations. If you haven't seen Fassbender in the iconic Assassin outfit yet, you can check that out here.
