A new Google 360-degree virtual reality experience takes viewers on a holiday tour of the White House. The president’s home really goes all out when it comes to Christmas. Folks using Google Cardboard will likely get a little more out of it, but there’s nothing stopping anyone from enjoying the tour via YouTube.
According to The Next Web, the tour was recorded using a 16-camera GoPro rig designed specifically to capture this kind of 360 experience. There’s also a lovely little narration that follows along explaining what each room is decorated with and why it’s decorated that way. If you’ve ever wanted a personal guide to why specific ornaments are hung on specific trees, this experience is for you.
In addition to being available online as well as on Android, the holiday tour is reportedly also part of Google’s Expeditions Pioneer Program. This means that schools around the world could potentially explore the virtual reality White House using Google Cardboard. Anything’s better than actually going to Washington, D.C., this time of year and dealing with weather and traffic.
