Google is making it easier for mobile users to create new Docs, Sheets and Slides on their mobile devices by bringing the Web-based version into Android and iOS.
The company started to roll out the feature of using a template to start a document back in September, just in time for the beginning of the school year. With an update being rolled out, users are now able to take advantage of the feature on their mobile devices as well.
"Get a head start, on-the-go, w/ Docs, Sheets, & Slides templates, now on Android, iPhone/iPad," said Google Docs in a tweet.
When trying to create a new document, users will now have the option to choose a template that they want to use. Google said that this option will help users get their documents up and running a whole lot faster than before.
Some of the templates available for Docs users include Resume, Letter, Report, Project Proposal, Business Letter, Informal Letter, Essay, Class Notes and Lesson Plan.
For those who need to create using the Sheets app, they can choose from the available template options that include To-do List, Annual Budget, 2016 Calendar, Schedule, Travel Planner, Invoice and more.
Likewise, the templates for Slides also come in several design offers that include Pitch, Photo Album, Portfolio, Book Report, Student Certificate, Case Study and more.
In order to access the templates, users have to make sure that they are within the specific Drive apps as opposed to accessing them through the main Drive app. They should also take note that the templates are filled with Lorem Ipsum which they can delete freely prior to entering text.
The latest update on being able to choose a template when creating new files in a mobile device is just one of the several updates that Google has been rolling out lately.
For instance, Google also added in-app purchasing support to Android Pay. One advantage of this feature is that developers will be able to add an Android Pay logo for the checkout. This will allow the user to check items out using a single tap, with a second tap needed for the sole purpose of confirming the user's details. Developers believe that easier checkout can lead to an increase in sales, as customers no longer have to look for their credit card whenever they need to buy something.
Another update worth mentioning involves Now on Tap, which now offers support for flight number recognition and package tracking. There is also support for six more languages that were added in the update.
