Valve has revealed the Dota 2 update 6.86, which was named "The Balance of Power" update. It features the return of a hero from the original Dota, an Arcana item for Zeus, the new Arcane Rune and a variety of other tweaks to the game.
The returning hero is none other than Zet the Arc Warden, described as a fragment of the primordial power that created the Ancients. Zet's four abilities are Flux, which slows and deals damage over time to an enemy unit; Magnetic Field, which grants attack speed bonuses and evasion to heroes and buildings within an area; Spark Wraith, which summons one that haunts an area and deals magic damage to an enemy that comes within range and the ultimate Tempest Double, which creates a clone that is able to use all of the spells and items of the Arc Warden.
The update also adds the Tempest Helm of the Thundergod, which is an Arcana item for Zeus. When utilized, the item provides a new base model, texture and animations to Zeus, who will be riding a cloud chariot, along with a new sound and effects for the Thundergod's Wrath skill.
The items also add a special sound and effect when Zeus uses the Blink Dagger. A custom hero icon, portrait, minimap icon and ability icon, along with an altered voice and an animated chat emoticon, round out the changes provided by the Tempest Helm of the Thundergod.
The update also brings changes to the lands around the main map's river, with new paths to be explored. In addition, there will be a new rune in the river named the Arcane Rune, which temporarily reduces spell cooldowns and mana costs for the user.
Four new items are coming to the game, namely the Faerie Fire, the Dragon Lance, the Aether Lens and the Iron Talon. The update also makes updates to several heroes, with new abilities for Death Prophet, Riki, Faceless Void, Lone Druid and Doom. The details of the items and new abilities are explained in the update changelog.
The update also brings the Desert terrain and the Desert music pack, along with the new Desert Colosseum map. Players can also now select the Ultra Shadow Quality setting in the Video settings menu while in the game.
Gamers can also purchase the Nested Treasure II, which is a treasure box that contains another treasure within. Gamers will have the chance to acquire a Set Redemption Token, which could be used to acquire any non-rare item that is included as a possible treasure.
The Dota 2 client also received several improvements, including the addition of hero stats for players, easy access to the armory, the addition of the Store tab in the top menu and private chat channels.
