Since DC's Convergence event over the summer, Batman has been a robotic suit operated by Jim Gordon. Bruce Wayne has no memory of his past as Batman after the events of Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo's "Endgame" story arc, and instead has been working at an orphanage and falling in love.
Jim's been doing a good job as the Dark Knight so far, but the new villain Mr. Bloom is giving him a run for his money. If you read Batman #47, you'll know Jim insn't exactly in the best situation right now, as Bloom proves to be far more powerful than anybody previously thought.
It's for that reason the original Batman will finally be returning in Batman #50, at least according to solicitations for upcoming comics from DC. Here's the description straight from the source:
Batman has returned to Gotham City! In this extra-sized conclusion to Snyder and Capullo's epic story "Superheavy," Bruce Wayne returns to the cape and cowl to battle Mr. Bloom alongside Jim Gordon for the fate of the city they both love.
You can see the cover for the issue below, which will be arriving on March 23. This is all very interesting, mostly because events involving Bruce Wayne last issue didn't seem to point towards the character's return to the cape and cowl.
Spoilers for Batman #47 below!
Slowly but surely Bruce seems to be remembering his past as Batman, but just as he's on the verge of a breakthrough he's interrupted by a stranger that appears to none other than the Joker. Like Bruce, the Joker seems to have forgotten his criminal past and is now a normal person.
Perhaps Joker will be the key in having Bruce remember his days as the Dark Knight. We have two issues (and three months) between now and issue #50 to see how all this plays out. With Capullo and Snyder at the helm, it's certain to be one entertaining ride.
