Our favorite shelled heroes are coming back to the big screen, and the first trailer shows just how explosive the sequel to Michael Bay's 2014 film will be.
With Bay returning to produce, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows seems to be packed with all the action we would expect, but focuses more on over-the-top comedy as it goes back to its '80s cartoon roots.
The trailer reveals that Michelangelo, Leonardo, Raphael and Donatello will be battling it out against Bebop and Rocksteady, two of the baddies that were featured in the cartoon series.
In the cartoon, Bebop and Rocksteady are characters that are part of a human street gang in New York City that was employed by villain Shredder. The gang is then sent out to stop April O'Neil, the reporter played by Megan Fox (who is reprising her role in the sequel).
The trailer features the purple mohawk warthog and mean mugging rhino, who are played by Anthony Williams and WWE World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus, with loads of action scenes as the turtles take them head on.
We are also introduced into O'Neil's new love interest, the vigilante Casey Jones, who is played by Stephen Amell (known for his role as Oliver Queen on The CW's Arrow).
With action, explosions, CGI movie magic and the tongue-in-cheek humor the turtles are known for, Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows may have the makings to be as successful as its 2014 predecessor (which earned more than $493 million globally).
Directed by David Green, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows stars Megan Fox, Will Arnett, Alan Ritchson, Noel Fisher, Pete Ploszek, Jeremy Howard, Stephen Amell, Tyler Perry, Brian Tee, Laura Linney, Sheamus, and Gary Anthony Williams
Cowabunga, dudes! The film hits theaters June 3, 2016.
