Donald Trump has already proposed blocking all Muslims from entering the United States for what he believes will be a temporary solution to tackling Islamic State terrorism.
While Hillary Clinton called on Silicon Valley's disrupters over the weekend to thwart efforts from militant and extremist groups like ISIS, Trump has a completely different idea. Of course, he does. Brace yourself.
The billionaire businessman and 2016 presidential hopeful wants Bill Gates to censor the Web, asking him to assist in "closing that Internet up in some way," as if it was as easy as shutting a door or filling a New York City pothole with cement.
"We're losing a lot of people because of the Internet," Trump said during a campaign rally at the USS Yorktown in Mount Pleasant, S.C. on Monday night, as reported by Fortune. "We have to see Bill Gates and a lot of different people that really understand what's happening. We have to talk to them about, maybe in certain areas, closing that Internet up in some way."
Closing that Internet up in some way? Wait ... there's more.
"Somebody will say, 'Oh freedom of speech, freedom of speech,'" Trump continued, waving his hand to scoff at the notion and brush it off. "These are foolish people."
He added, seemingly in reference to ISIS: "We've got to maybe do something with the Internet because they are recruiting by the thousands."
Gates has responded to leaders' prompts before, but how will he ever respond to this?
