Mick Foley Sets Record Straight On WWE Hiring Son As Writer

Few WWE Superstars have managed to permanently etch a place in fans' memories more than the "Hardcore Legend" Mick Foley.

Let's face it — the WWE Hall of Famer will always be remembered for his fall off the Hell in a Cell vs. the Undertaker at 1998's King of the Ring alone, and that was just a sampling of how extreme he was over the course of his legendary pro-wrestling career.

While Foley and his three wrestling monikers — Mankind, Cactus Jack and Dude Love — are long done, his son's career in World Wrestling Entertainment is just beginning.

Foley took to his Facebook account early Friday morning to let people know that yes, his son Dewey has indeed been hired by WWE's creative team, but no, it's not because of who his father is and what he meant to the business.

"My son was hired two months ago by WWE creative, and will begin working with the company in January," Foley wrote. "He would have started earlier, but he and I both felt it was important for him to fulfill the commitment he made to the college that employed him as the director of a residence hall."

He added: "My son was not given this job because of his last name. He earned it. He earned it by working for hundreds of hours in solitude, with no compensation, to prove his writing skills and mind for the business. There are no piece-of-cake jobs in WWE. As ESPN's Jonathan Coachman said of his time with WWE, 'you are expected to bring it every day.' My son will do his best to 'bring it' every day."

He also addressed rumors about his daughter joining the company as a backstage interviewer, although he said "it's just talk" at this point.

Foley added that the fact that his son will work for the company won't stop him from sharing his honest opinions about WWE on Facebook.

No matter what great storylines Dewey goes on to write, he will always be Mr. Foley's baby boy, as evidenced by the picture the Hall of Famer posted on his Facebook account. However, that doesn't mean he didn't earn the job.

Congrats, kid.
