Since the inception of the popular building game Minecraft, recreating pop culture and gamer culture gems has always been a delight for fellow gamers, fangirls and fanboys alike. Now, a new addition to this list has been added: recreations from various films out of the Japanese animation powerhouse Studio Ghibli.
Founded in 1985, Studio Ghibli has produced a litany of heavily-lauded animated films, many of which contain fantastic elements falling into the genres magical realism and/or fantasy (think Spirited Away or Princess Mononoke) — so, true to form, the Minecraft Studio Ghibli recreations spring to life in a truly fantastical way.
Created by the user PERO, some Studio Ghibli Easter eggs featured in his or her PC game recreations include the blue-tinged, toxic forest from Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, a savage, illuminated insect called an Ohm, a forest from the aformentioned Princess Mononoke, complete with spotted, orb-like mushrooms and some kodama flora and a larger-than-life Catbus from My Neighbor Totoro.
Check out some of the the Studio Ghibli recreations in the clips below.
