Google Play Games announced on Monday a new feature that allows players to record and share their gameplay with others directly from their Android smartphones.
The update allows users in the Play Games app to select their favorite mobile game they want to play and tap on the record button to capture the excitement of things like beating a challenging level or showing off your world in Minecraft: Pocket Edition, along with your commentary using the device's front-facing camera and microphone. The video is recorded in 720p or 480p, can be quickly edited when you are finished, and can then be uploaded right to YouTube.
After the video is uploaded to YouTube, the gamer can then share it with other social channels.
It was only a matter of time before Google joined in on the gaming video bandwagon, with YouTube Gaming recently launching and Twitch remaning popular among gamers. More than 144 billion minutes of gaming videos are live streams that are watched on YouTube each month, so this new feature that is part of the Google Play Games update will be a way to add more content to the platform.
The new record and share gameplay feature will roll out for Android over the next few days in the U.S.and the U.K.
