In this video, Jimmy Kimmel proves that A) Nobody knows what a smartwatch is actually supposed to do and B) People will buy anything if there is an Apple logo on it, even if that logo is an Apple sticker stuck to the back of a $20 Casio watch.
Kimmel took the Casio watch to Hollywood Boulevard and everyone seemed to believe it was the Apple smartwatch, despite the fact that the watch has not been released yet.
Truly devoted to the cult that is Apple, the people really tried their best to convince themselves that the watch was impressive. When asked if he was impressed by the fact that the watch had an alarm and a stopwatch, one person responded with "I'm pretty impressed, those are the things I would ask for in a watch." Another person kept it fairly honest, stating, "I just like that it has an Apple insignia on the back."
The actual Apple smartwatch is speculated to come out in October and will function as a watch and a fitness wristband. Rumored to be called iTime, the watch will be able to sync with other Apple devices. No word yet if it well sport a rubber wristband à la its Casio impostor.
