Nothing says holidays like some cold hard cash being used to stick it to the competition.
On Thanksgiving Day, T-Mobile will start running a month-long holiday promotion, Un-carrier Unwrapped, which vows to give $200 to anyone dumping Sprint's unlimited plan in exchange for T-Mobile's unlimited plan. Oof ... and the plot thickens.
All existing Sprint Unlimited LTE plan customers have to do is drop their line with the company and make the jump to T-Mobile's own Unlimited LTE plan for $45 per line for a family of four. T-Mobile says doing so will save your family nearly 30 percent.
If the promotion itself isn't cunning enough for you, scathing words from T-Mobile's CEO and president, John Legere, spells out more of the (competitive) holiday spirit.
"I cannot think of any wireless customers in more desperate need of some holiday cheer than those Sprint customers still hanging on over there," Legere said in a company press release statement to announce the promotion. "Those poor people have put up with the nation's slowest and smallest LTE network, and their carrier throwing out a deal-of-the-month for everyone except them.
"We know Sprint's customers love T-Mobile when they switch, so this holiday season, we're taking away every barrier and cost to coming over to the Un-carrier and America's fastest 4G LTE network," he continued. "Happy holidays!"
Your move, Sprint.
As part of T-Mobile's month-long promotion, if customers switch their Sprint number — with the deal including Boost, Virgin Mobile, prepaid and postpaid — to a T-Mobile plan, they'll automatically get the $200. A family of four doing so could mean an extra $800 this holiday season.
Is the promotion's cash offering enough for you to make the switch?
