Apple Watch users can now view seven-second looping vines directly from their wrists.
Vine announced on Tuesday the launch of its Apple Watch app, which allows users to watch posts from two different feeds: Favorites and Featured. The Favorites feed provides vines from the creators the user has tagged as their favorite, and the Featured provides the user with vines that the company wants the user to see. These are hand-selected with content from all channels, including comedy, music and sports.
"When we set out to build Vine for the Apple Watch, we focused on making sure that you can quickly access the content on Vine that is most important to you — accounts that you have selected as a Favorite and posts that are getting lots of views," Vine iOS engineer Simon Corsin writes in a blog post.
While users can now watch vines on the wearable, they won't autoplay — well, unless you make them. The user has to tap on the mini-video first in order for the vine to play with its sound. However, creators will be able to see their amount of loops a particular post got from their wrist, as well as the the ability to like and reshare posts.
To get the app for Apple Watch, make sure to first update to the latest version of the app. Open the Watch app on your smartphone, find "Vine," and then tap on "Show App on Apple Watch."
Users can also add Vine to their watch face by pressing firmly on the screen, selecting one of the Vine complications such as the Modular face, and tapping on "Customize" to choose where you want to see your total loops score.
Even if you don't plan on viewing content on Apple Watch, the video-sharing service also rolled out a new update for its iOS app to help users discover similar content.
Users can now swipe left on any post to see more posts of the same kind. A version of this feature was first introduced back in October, but the Twitter-owned company has since tweaked the feature to be able to provide users with more related recommendations and ways to access them.
