Pizza delivery has just gotten even quicker.
Domino's is introducing The Easy Order, which allows customers to push a button to get their favorite pizza delivered to their door. With the company testing the technology in the United Kingdom first, the first buttons will be shipped next month via a social media-driven competition of sorts with a second batch slated for a February 2016 release, as reported by Engadget. It could then potentially spread to other parts of the world, including the United States.
Available as physical or virtual button, the one-button-touch delivery pairs an accompanying smartphone app with Bluetooth to order a pizza delivery more rapidly. Your address can be saved through Domino's app or website, as could your go-to pizza preference. If you opt for the physical button, which is powered by the company Flic, you'll receive the tiny magnetic button, which you could program to your prime pizza preference as well.
From there, push the button and count down the time until the first hint of pizza hits your nose — not to mention your mouth. Although the one-button service isn't available in the U.S. just yet, American customers can already tweet a Domino's order via an emoji, order through their smart television or even connected car. They can even pay via text. That being said, even if the one-button technology doesn't make its way to the States, it seems like we'll live.
In the past few days alone, we've seen an uptick of fast food brands leaning on technology to bolster their delivery services — whether it's Dunkin' Donuts testing mobile ordering or Kentucky Fried Chicken launching DoorDash-powered deliveries in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
