The Colonel could be knocking at your door soon.
On Thursday, Nov. 12, Kentucky Fried Chicken announced that it's partnering with the DoorDash app to begin delivering its buckets of fried chicken to customers in Los Angeles and San Francisco, with Houston to follow before the year is over, and possibly more cities announced in the coming months.
The way it will work is customers will make their orders via DoorDash's app (whether iOS or Android) or website ... but it won't come cheap. According to the New York Times, delivery fees of $4.99 to $6.99 will apply, depending on the customer's location.
In addition, menu items will cost more online than they do when you visit a physical location. In other words, your craving for KFC better be there if you're going to plop down the extra cash. That being said, though, KFC will keep some prices the same, announcing that its popular Family Fill Up bucket of fried chicken will remain $20, with $5 Fill Ups.
According to the DoorDash blog, there will also be "unique delivery menus and new combo packs you can't find in stores," and the entire menu of items will be available for delivery.
In partnering with DoorDash, KFC joins brands like 7-11 and Taco Bell, which have also chosen the app to launch their own delivery services.
