Good news for Google Nexus 6 owners on the T-Mobile network. After what seems like a million years, T-Mobile is finally pushing out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to users.
Since this is an over-the-air update, it will come in phases, which means some owners of the Nexus 6 will get it before others. Furthermore, it will not go live across all regions at the same time. Chances are, it will take a few days for it to go live for everyone, but at the same time, folks can rest easy knowing it is coming.
According to the company's support page, it is rolling out Marshmallow build MRA58X on its network for the Nexus 6. The update will bring LTE band 12 support along with Wi-Fi calling. It comes in at over 700 MB, so users are advised to have at least 50 percent battery life to accommodate downloading and installing the updated operating system.
We suggest folks keep their Nexus 6 device in the charger the whole time until it is done. Users will also require a decent enough Wi-Fi connection to get things moving quickly.
Apart from LTE band 12 and T-Mobile's version of Wi-Fi calling, no other changes were mentioned. We're certain the update does more than that, but whatever else is there is likely quite unimportant.
For some reason, T-Mobile took its time with making Android 6.0 Marshmallow available to Nexus 6 users after considering the fact that Google made it available a month ago. Nonetheless, it is happening right now, and just two days after the network announced the update, it was approved.
The company planned to roll out the update and should have pushed out in October; however, a major bug was found, and as such, the team had to return to the drawing board before finally releasing it to the public.
T-Mobile did not reveal what the bug was all about, but still, the wait has been long.
