The Samsung Gear VR hit the shelves just recently, and it quickly sold out at major retailers such as Best Buy and Amazon.
The Samsung device's seemingly early success means that stocks will be refilled soon enough, but as of right now, the places to buy it from are limited.
The time is up for the preorder period, and virtual reality enthusiasts who missed out on it will have to look for the gear in every nook and cranny they can think of, as Amazon says it's "Temporarily out of stock" and Best Buy says it's "Sold Out Online."
Samsung fortunately has a few left, and it's up for grabs for $99 along with free shipping to boot. Some patience is required, though, as Samsung says the product will ship in seven to 10 business days, but the company does offer some shipping methods for faster delivery, which, of course, come with fees. Once shipped, the Expedited method should deliver the order in two business days and the Express method in one business day.
According to Redditor /u/Placebo61, an Amazon supervisor said the Samsung Gear VR will come back in January, so even more patience is necessary. The retailer does have some listings up for it but it's from a reseller, and the gear is set at a higher price. A seller called techmarketplace also posted a listing up on eBay, but it's priced at $274.99.
Mobile retailers such as T-Mobile and AT&T aren't out of the loop, offering the virtual reality device as well, but being too much in the loop, they also no longer have the gear in stock. However, Redditor /u/soaringspoon says there's an AT&T store in Boston that carries it.
Rest assured, Samsung is working on supplying what the people want.
"We are delighted with the overwhelmingly positive response Gear VR has received from reviewers and eager buyers alike. We are working hard to fulfill all orders as quickly as possible," a Samsung spokesperson tells TechCrunch.
This high demand indicates that the Oculus-powered Samsung Gear VR is successful or possibly just wildly hyped up. Either way, almost everyone definitely wants to get their hands on the device.
The Samsung Gear VR is priced at $99, and it will work with most of Samsung's 2015 handsets, including the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Eege, Galaxy S6 edge+ and Galaxy Note 5.
