T-Mobile Announces Samsung Gear VR And Gear S2 Release Dates

T-Mobile revealed that it will be the first wireless carrier to offer the Samsung Gear VR, launching the device on Nov. 27.

On that day, the virtual reality headset will be sold in certain T-Mobile outlets, and at the online store of the carrier. Not all T-Mobile stores will be offering the virtual reality headset, so it would be best for users to contact their local stores on the availability of the Samsung Gear VR beforehand to find out if they will be carrying the device.

The price for the Samsung Gear VR will be $99.99, with the virtual reality headset compatible with certain Samsung Galaxy devices that are being offered by the company.

Specifically, the Samsung Gear VR is compatible with the Galaxy S6, the Galaxy S6 Edge, the Galaxy S6 Edge+ and the Galaxy Note 5.

The Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch, on the other hand, will be launching earlier with T-Mobile. The release date for the smartwatch on the carrier is Nov. 15, with the device to be made available in certain T-Mobile outlets and on the online store of the company.

The Samsung Gear S2's cellular-enabled version, which will be powered by the Tizen operating system, will come with a price tag of $359.99. For customers that will be qualified, they can acquire the device for no down payment and simply pay a monthly installment of $15 for 23 months and then $14.99 for the last month for a no-interest, 24-month installment for the device.

Existing T-Mobile customers can also choose to add the Gear S2 smartwatch to their current data plans for an additional charge of $5 per month, which would include unlimited text messages, calls and data, with 500 MB of high-speed data. Customers that choose to take advantage of this offer will also be able to enjoy 4G data and unlimited calls and text messages while in Canada and Mexico, unlimited text messages and data in over 140 countries all over the world and unlimited streaming music with over 31 services, including Pandora and Spotify.
