Kylo Ren Is As Intimidating As Ever In New 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Image

It's just a matter of weeks until Star Wars: The Force Awakens arrives in theaters, but there are still plenty of new images and details about the movie landing on the web.

The latest comes from Empire magazine, who have a brand new image of Adam Driver's villain Kylo Ren. In the image below, you'll see Ren wielding his now iconic crossguard lightsaber, flanked by two First Order Stormtroopers amidst a flaming desert backdrop.

It's not terribly different from images of the character we've seen before, but some new details from Driver are. Speaking with Empire, Driver says he never thought of Ren and the First Order as villains, instead imagining them more as misguided zealots.

"When they think of their actions as morally justified, it makes them dangerous and unpredictable," Driver tells the magazine. "There's no level they won't go to to accomplish what they're after. I never thought of the character as an evil person."

Director J.J. Abrams has repeatedly stated that Kylo Ren is not, in fact, a Sith, though he definitely dresses like one and wields an intimidating red lightsaber. The character seeks to model himself off the late Darth Vader and leads the group of characters known as The Knights of Ren. We still don't know if Driver's character has the ability to use the Force or not, but it certainly looks like he won't be making things easy for the heroes of The Force Awakens.

Empire says they will be releasing more exclusive images and news leading up to the release of their Star Wars: The Force Awakens issue on news-stands Nov. 26.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is in theaters Dec. 18.
