Wally West To Appear In 'The Flash' Midseason Finale

This season of The Flash has already teased Wally West, but as of yet, the character has not yet appeared on the series.

However, that will change with the midseason finale of The Flash in an episode titled "Running to Stand Still." According to ComicBook.com, the official description of the episode mentions the character's appearance:

"When Mark Mardon AKA The Weather Wizard (guest star Liam McIntyre) returns to break Leonard Snart AKA Captain Cold (guest star Wentworth Miller) and James Jesse AKA The Trickster (guest star Mark Hamill) out of Iron Heights, Barry (Grant Gustin) must stop these rogues from taking over Central City during Christmas. Meanwhile, Joe (Jesse L. Martin) and Iris (Candice Patton) meet Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale)."

Of course, there are also a few other key details given away by this description. That episode will also see the return of The Weather Wizard and Captain Cold, both recurring characters on the series. However, fans should get even more excited about the return of Mark Hamill as Trickster. It seems that this episode has the rogues out in full force, leaving Team Flash left to deal with them.

Patton teased that West might feature into the show earlier this summer at the annual Superman Celebration held in Metropolis, Il. She answered a question about Wally, because in the comics, Wally is Iris' nephew.

"I don't know that Iris will ever have a sister," said Patton. "But that would not prevent Wally West from eventually showing up on our show."

However, this season of The Flash has set up Wally as a much closer relative to Iris: a brother that she never knew she had.

"It's a whirlwind. It's like being slapped in the face," said Patton to Comic Book Resources. "She finds out that her mother's not dead, and now she's realized her mother had another child and that this child is her biological brother, perhaps. It's a lot of information, and then deciding that's something that she should tell Joe - it's a huge, huge weight on Iris."

In DC Comics, Wally also eventually becomes a superhero himself: Kid Flash. In the comics, Wally gets his powers after an accident happens at the labs of the Central City police department. This accident gives him similar powers to the Flash.

The Flash airs on The CW on Tuesdays. "Running to Stand Still" airs on December 8.
