Robert Rodriguez And John Malkovich Make Movie That You Won't Ever See

First, here's some good news: Robert Rodriguez and John Malkovich recently made a film together. But there's bad news: the film won't see the light of day for 100 years.

The movie, appropriately titled 100 Years, is a short film created as part of a promotion for a luxury cognac called Louis XIII. The brand's marketing focuses on the aging process of the cognac, which takes 100 years. That means that bottles the company now sells were originally bottled in 1915.

"Louis XIII is a true testament to the mastery of time and we sought to create a proactive piece of art that explores the dynamic relationship of the past, present and future," said global executive director of Louis XIII, Ludovic du Plessis, in a press release as reported by io9.

Malkovich stars in the film with co-stars Marko Zaror and Shuya Chang.

However, the movie is already locked away in a time capsule that isn't scheduled for opening until Nov. 18, 2115.

That doesn't mean that Rodriguez and Malkovich fans can't get an idea of what the film is about, though. Fortunately, there are a total of three teaser trailers.

The first trailer asks viewers to "imagine the future."

Not much is known about the film, although the teasers seems more an advertisement for vodka than anything else. However, Rodriguez teased that 100 Years' setting is in the present and is "emotionally charged."

Each teaser trailer imagines a different version of the future.

"There were several options when the project was first presented of what [the future] would be," said Malkovich. "An incredibly high-tech, beyond computerized version of the world, a post-Chernoybl, back to nature, semi-collapsed civilization and then there was a retro future which was how the future was imagined in science fiction of the 1940s or 50s."

However, these teaser trailers all have something in common: the footage used in them is not from the actual movie. The movie itself remains a mystery only revealed to a future generation.

Billed as "the movie you'll never see," 100 Years will, hopefully, get its release date in 2115, as long as someone discovers the time capsule and it doesn't end up buried and forgotten somewhere. So make sure tell your children and grandchildren to keep an eye out for it.
