Way before Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson became a larger-than-life WWE Superstar with millions — and millions — of fans and subsequently a box-office attraction, he was just a pebble, trying to scratch and claw his way up the pro-wrestling ranks as his father Rocky Johnson and grandfather, the "High Chief" Peter Maivia, did before him.
On Sunday, Johnson took a trip back through memory lane, posting an Instagram video clip of his then-wrestling persona Flex Kavana right before having his very first pro-wrestling match.
The short clip has a young Johnson declaring, "we're naughty by nature, and violent by decision," with seemingly Jerry Lawler's son Brian Christopher by his side. In a lengthy caption accompanying the video, Johnson goes on to explain that he was strapped for cash at the time, before taking part in his very first wrestling match in Memphis for the United States Wrestling Association.
As you'll see, toward the ending of his caption, he seems to give some advice to younger wrestlers trying to make it — not to mention his younger self — while poking some fun at his first wrestling character.
"Y'all keep working hard at your goals and creating opportunities for yourselves, always be humble and never, and I repeat NEVER wear sunglasses inside a TV studio like I did here," Johnson wrote. "What in theeeee f-!??"
Of course, WWE conspiracists are going to think that "The Rock" is getting the itch to return to the ring by this post.
