Pope Francis Doesn't Think You Should Use Your Phone During Family Dinner

Pope Francis may be the most tech-embracing pope to date, having a Twitter account with a massive 7.88 million followers, but that doesn't mean he thinks people should be able to use their devices at the dinner table.

The pope recently urged users to spend time with their family rather than their phone during family meals.

During his address at St. Peter's Square, the pope even went as far as to say that families who don't eat together or who do but don't talk, instead watching TV or looking at their smartphone, are hardly families at all.

"When children at the table are attached to the computer or the phone and don't listen to each other, this is not a family, this is a pensioner," said the pope during his remarks at St. Peter's Square on Nov. 11.

Francis continued on to stress the importance of family togetherness, especially from a young age, saying that sitting together and discussing our day with our families during dinner is a sign of togetherness and solidarity. He has spoken on themes related to family life since last fall during his weekly general audience.

So, if you were hoping to see Instagram pics of pope Francis' dinnertime meals, you may be disappointed.
