Fallout 4 companion Dogmeat is one of the most popular in the game; Bethesda did an excellent job in the design of the dog and even how it acts in certain situations. However, one fan wanted to have his own dog in the game, and it did not take him long to make it happen.
Modder "7igger" from the modding website Nexus Mods sat down and created the texture of his dog Pirate for the purpose of adding him into Fallout 4. Since gamers have only just started Fallout 4 modding, 7iger could not create Pirate from the ground up.
Still, the mod did manage to nail the signature bandanna and the fur pattern very well. 7iger should be able to perform a much better job in the future once modding of Fallout 4 matures to the point where modders can add anything they wish to the game.
"I created this texture using photos of my pup, 'Pirate.' He's a kelpie x blue cattle dog and a lovable mutt. After posting [about it] to Reddit, some users actually wanted to use my retexture so here it is," says 7iger.
Outside of the work of this single modder, folks have been doing great work in the few days since Fallout 4 was released for public consumption. One mod in particular, called Enhanced Wasteland, is a preset that adds some much-needed vibrancy to the world. This is particularly appreciated since Fallout 4, despite being more colorful when compared to other games in the franchise, still feels washed out.
Another interesting mod found on Nexus Mods is Batch File. This is for the folks who are interested in building their own settlement in the game. With this mod activated, they should find it easier to make a settlement because running out of junk will no longer be an issue.
To make things even easier, there's the Unlimited Settlement Objects mod. Combining this mod with Batch File should make settlement creation a breeze, especially for those with a creative mind.
While these mods are only available on the PC platform, we can say for sure that mod support will come to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in the future. However, any mod that enhances the graphics will only be a PC thing.
