Dory the forgetful fish's catchy tune is back in the first trailer for the long-awaited Disney-Pixar sequel to “Finding Nemo,” “Finding Dory.”
The blue fish is once again voiced by Ellen DeGeneres who joined the rest of the quirky cast of characters at the movie's big unveiling a few months ago.
DeGeneres was the first to unveil the trailer on her website on Tuesday, Nov. 10. Following the release of the movie's first poster as well, this trailer is the first look back at the undersea Great Barrier Reef world of Marlin, Nemo, and of course, Dory, since the 2003 film.
In this first look, Dory is having some trouble sleeping, speaking some heart-wrenching words like, “Don't cry, mommy. Don't cry,” which gives us a first real deep insight into Dory's past.
Nemo is the first to notice Dory sleep talking and sleep swimming and he ushers his dad, Marlin, to help bring their friend back home and into bed. But the mystery thickens when, back in her cozy coral, Dory utters the cryptic words, “Hand me the ratchet wrench so I can fix it.”
A ratchet wrench in the middle of the ocean?
The last few shots of the scene show Marlin and Nemo shocked to see Dory suddenly dart away and swim off into the darkness – they follow her... But we won't know if they are able to find her and bring her home this time.
The trailer ends with Dory excitedly telling her friends on the reef that she “remembered something” and that something which gets her all rattled up has to do with her family.
Disney-Pixar films have been masters of tugging at our heartstrings and the story of this beloved character looks like it will be no exception.
We already know that Eugene Levy and Diane Keaton have been cast at the voices for Dory's parents. We can't wait to find out how the rest of the motley crew will play out in “Finding Dory” which is scheduled to open in theatres on Jun. 16, 2016.
