"What separates a champion from a contender? The ability to adapt, to learn from every performance—regardless of the outcome—and the discipline to never stop working in the quest for greatness."
EA Sports took that opening line from its new Vision trailer, released Tuesday, as its approach in delivering a bolstered UFC 2 game. The results? What the longtime video game developer calls "the smoothest, most-responsive set of movements ever available in an MMA game that will add new dimensions to your stand-up, ground game and everything in between."
UFC 2, which is scheduled for a spring 2016 release on PS4 and Xbox One, touts what EA calls its "Knockout Physics System," vowing to make gamers feel every unique impact and finish and bring mixed martial arts' overall jaw-dropping moments to life.
Just as the highly anticipated title will key in on fights in the Octagon, it will also hone in on training to prepare for bouts. From technique-holding challenges to midfight feedback and risk-free sparring sessions, EA wants to give gamers all the tools necessary to master MMA in UFC 2.
EA has also added plenty of new online options to strengthen the title and series for the future. There's also a fighter creation feature, allowing gamers to bring their best MMA imaginations to life.
EA Sports was wise to prominently feature Ronda Rousey in this trailer as the first face seen in the clip. Rousey, the highest-paid fighter in the UFC, will put her bantamweight title on the line against Holly Holm in Australia on Sunday.
From the walk-out to the knockout, this could be the most authentic MMA video game to date.
