Don’t Call It A Data Cap: Leaked Document Shows Comcast Glossing Over 300 GB Data Cap

Comcast expanded its 300 GB data cap to other markets as the company continues to test the limit of how much consumers can take before they crack. The company is expecting customers to complain a lot, which is why it created an internal document to aid customer service representatives.

One customer service representative decided to leak the whole thing on the web, and from what we have seen, Comcast wants to stay clear of the term, "data cap." The plan is to deal with customers in the best possible way to ensure less outrage.

Customer service representatives will also deny that this data cap has anything to do with congestion. According to the leaked document, agents should instead tell customers that it is all about fairness along with the need to provide a flexible policy to all.

"Those documents are consistent with what we've been saying both internally and externally about these trials. We've also said many times that as the Internet, and our customers' use of it, evolves, so will we and our policies. Our aim is to bring the best products and services to the marketplace," according to a Comcast spokesperson.

The new 300 GB data plan Comcast customers have to deal with could be a recipe for disaster as each client must pay an extra $10 for each additional 50 GB after the 300 GB limit has been met.

We understand that in other markets, the company has offered customers to pay $35 for an unlimited plan. It is not yet clear if this plan will eventually become available in every market, or if it is exclusive to some.

At the moment, several Comcast users are complaining and going as far as to threaten to switch to a different network. If this continues, then there is a chance Comcast may refrain from going down this path.
