Harry Potter grows 'Horns' in trailer for Radcliffe's upcoming film

Whether it is a lightning scar on his forehead in "Harry Potter" or goat horns in, well, "Horns," Daniel Radcliffe has a knack for picking characters who stand out. You can see for yourself in the first teaser trailer for "Horns" below, a fantasy/horror film set for release later this year.

Based on the international best-selling novel by Joe Hill and directed by Alexandre Aja (whose previous work includes "High Tension" and "The Hills Have Eyes"), the film tells the story of Ig, played by Radcliffe. Ig wakes up one morning after a night of heavy drinking with no memory of what happened the night before and finds two horns growing out the front of his head. There is also one more thing -- his girlfriend has been brutally raped and murdered and he is being accused of the crime.

With horns sprouting from the top of his head, a fearful populace of Ig's small, Pacific Northwest town is quick to label him a murderer and some even go so far to believe Ig is the devil himself. He isn't completely alone in his struggle, however. His parents still support him and love him, as does his brother. His best friend and lawyer Lee is also there by his side

The secret to uncovering the truth lies in Ig's horns, which compel people to confess their sins. Even though he may have the key to uncovering who murdered his girlfriend, finding the truth isn't going to be easy. As Radcliffe puts it in the trailer, "sometimes when you go through hell, the only way out is to walk deeper into the fire."

"Horns" co-stars Juno Temple, Max Minghella, Heather Graham and David Morse, but it is of course Radcliffe who is the main draw here. Just listening to the trailer most fans probably wouldn't have been able to guess he starred in the film, as he is using an accent much different from that in "Harry Potter" or in everyday life.

The final shot in the trailer gives fans a good look at the intensity Radcliffe brings to the role, complete with a giant snake around his shoulders and a cold stare. Radcliffe looks perfectly calm, but that isn't too surprising. He is a parseltongue after all.

"Horns" is scheduled to hit UK theaters on October 31. There currently isn't any news on whether or not the film will make it stateside.
