Moto G Turbo Edition Breaks Cover With Upgraded Specs: Octa-Core Processor, Full HD Display

Motorola just launched an upgraded Moto G version called the Moto G Turbo Edition, bumping up the specs to include a full HD display and an octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor.

The original Moto G proved to be one of the company's best-selling devices, as it offered decent specifications at a very budget-friendly price tag. The handset raised the bar for affordable smartphones and the latest update now makes it even more attractive for budget shoppers.

While so far the "Turbo" moniker was reserved for Verizon-exclusive Motorola Droid powerhouses, a new Moto G Turbo has now made its debut in Mexico. Spotted by The Gadgets Freak, this upgraded Moto G variant will reportedly hit retail on Nov. 13, sporting a $283 price tag.

The Moto G Turbo Edition reportedly comes with a 5-inch full 720p HD (1280 x 720) display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection and packs a 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor, paired with 2 GB of RAM and Adreno 405 graphics.

Other specs include 16 GB of built-in storage space, microSD for additional memory, a 13-megapixel main camera, a 5-megapixel selfie cam, 4G LTE, dual-SIM capabilities, a 2,470 mAh battery with Motorola Turbo Power quick charging and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on the software side.

Connectivity options consist of Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, GPS, 3G and micro-USB. The smartphone further boasts IP67 certification for water resistance, as it's able to withstand being submerged in up to three feet of water for up to 30 minutes.

Compared to the base model of the third-generation Moto G, the new Motorola Moto G Turbo Edition rocks a more powerful processor and a better display resolution, as well as more RAM and storage. As a reminder, the Moto G (3rd Gen) base model features an HD resolution (1,280 x 720 pixels), a quad-core 1.4GHz Snapdragon 410 processor, just 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage space.

The Moto G Turbo Edition will apparently launch exclusively in Mexico for the time being, but it's expected to hit other markets as well at a later date. No official information is currently available regarding a global launch.
