Last month, HTC's VP of product management Mo Versi tweeted that the company is looking to roll out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow for the HTC One M8 Google Play Edition within October.
HTC revealed a list of its devices that will be getting the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update when the operating system was officially launched by Google. However, no dates were included in the list, leaving users no choice but to wait for when the update will be coming to their smartphones.
The HTC One M8 Google Play Edition does not come with HTC's Sense UI, and instead is powered by stock Android. The device was discontinued by the company in January, but it was one of the first smartphones to receive the update to Android 5.0 Lollipop when the operating system was released in November of last year.
As such, users of the device may have expected that the smartphone would also be among the first devices to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. That is not the case though, as October rolled by and no update was released for the HTC One M8 Google Play Edition.
Owners of the smartphone can now rejoice, however, as Versi tweeted that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the HTC One M8 Google Play Edition has arrived.
The update did not push out within the October target date that HTC said, but at least the update is here and HTC One M8 Google Play Edition owners can now take their smartphones up to the latest version of Google's mobile operating system.
The Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the smartphone has a size of 450.4MB, which is a sizable one. However, given that it takes the smartphone out of Android 5.0 Lollipop and into Android 6.0 Marshmallow, there should be no complaints coming from users.
