Microsoft OneNote is the company's ticket to join the note-taking app bandwagon which is currently dominated by Stepan Pachikov's Evernote web service. The computer program is featured with free-form data gathering and collaboration among several of its users.
Initially released in 2003, Microsoft updated the program with the OneNote cloud service API four months ago. API allows integration between the service and the apps from third party developers. Some of the exciting features that were added include sending application data into OneDrive, Optical Character Recognition, OneNote Clipper, Email to OneNote and Office Lens.
Microsoft OneNote is available in most major platforms such as Windows Phone and Symbian. It is available for iOS and Android as a stand-alone app. Both platforms enjoy 500 notes for free though upgrading it to go beyond 500 will be charged with a certain price.
Microsoft is gearing up with the launch of an updated OneNote that will cater exclusively to Android users. Since it is a beta program, it will be initially managed on Google+. If things go well, the app will be migrated to the Play Store.
So far, the beta version doesn't really show a huge difference from the existing OneNote app in Android. However, Microsoft has confirmed that it will have the added ability of managing notebooks and its sections as well as app copying and pasting into OneNote.
In order to deliver the best OneNote user experience, the team from OneNote has created the Google+ based "OneNote for Android Beta Program Community." By joining the community, users can give their feedback which will help the team to decide the next OneNote features to build. While it is true that Microsoft already had their troubleshooting forum dubbed as "The Microsoft Answers" forum, the team has concocted a new and more convenient way for users to send their suggestions on how they can improve OneNote with the "OneNote Feedback & Suggestions" official site.
There are two forums found in the above-mentioned site. One forum caters to OneNote users while the other forum caters to software developers. Users can type in their suggestion in the box called "Enter your idea." Identical suggestions will pop up and will be eligible to get a maximum of 10 votes per user. If the suggestion is fulfilled and the user is part of the success, he gets back his 10 votes and can use them for future voting.
Incidentally, Microsoft has also launched a testing portal for its Office 365 apps where users can sign up and provide feedback. This brings everyone to speculate that the Android tablet version of the apps would be launched soon. Currently, the Office 365 apps have versions for Android, iPhone and iPad.
