No matter how hard some of us try, it can be really difficult to make any kind of art that might look good. Thankfully, SprayPainter, an accessory that turns a can of spray in a dot matrix printer, is here to save the day.
The device basically clips onto a spray can and can perfectly recreate almost any design, as long as the painter can hold the can with a steady hand.
The can is made of up of two key components. The first is the SprayPainter can attachment that controls the nozzle and sends out blasts of paint to create an image one pixel at a time, and the user's smartphone, which is used to send images to the SprayPainter attachment. The device also uses a camera to track the position of the can so that it knows when to send out a blast of paint.
The use of a camera is a slightly crude way to track where the device is being moved, and it's likely that the person holding the can won't be able to move too fast because of that, but the solution is also a lot cheaper than using something like a full sensor array. Of course, price is important considering the fact that the team behind it is trying to sell the new device commercially.
In fact, those interested in SprayPainter should keep an eye out for the Indiegogo campaign, which is likely to launch next month to the public. Pricing for the device hasn't been revealed just yet, likely because the device is still being perfected and refined.
