The latest Sonos Play:5 multi-room wireless speaker will hit Australian store shelves on Nov. 25, sporting a hefty AUD$749 price tag.
That price may seem quite steep to some, but the new and improved Sonos Play:5 speaker received nothing but raving reviews so far. The new iteration succeeds the previous Play:5 that launched roughly six years ago, and improves virtually every aspect to take audio to the next level.
The top-of-the-line Sonos Play:5 promises to deliver the best experience Sonos has ever offered, and the company's line of speakers was already pretty amazing.
"The new SONOS PLAY:5, smart speaker is elegantly designed from the inside out and delivers the purest, deepest, most vibrant sound yet from Sonos," the company boasted in a press release.
The speaker packs six custom-designed, synchronized drivers, three mid-woofers and three tweeters, aiming to deliver a high-quality music listening experience that comes incredibly close to how each track was perfected in the studio.
"The array produces a soundstage that is much wider than expected in a single speaker, creating room-filling sound with precise separation of vocals and instruments."
Sonos is arguably one of the top in its field and among the undisputed leaders when it comes to music streaming gadgets for the home. Sonos devices offer great sound quality, albeit many interested customers are put off by the steep price tags.
The new Sonos Play:5 is no exception, as the top quality it offers definitely doesn't come cheap. The speaker sparked overwhelmingly positive reviews in the U.S. and other parts of the world, and went up for preorder a few days ago.
The speaker costs $499 in the U.S., where it will start shipping on Nov. 20. In other markets, the Sonos Play:5 will hit retail on Nov. 29, with prices varying by market. The gadget costs $549 in Canada, $749 in Australia, £429 in the UK and €579 in Europe.
The Sonos Play:5 comes in two color options - black or white. Head over to the product page on Sonos Australia's website to learn more about the device or to preorder the gadget ahead of its retail release on Nov. 25.
