The 44th annual Tokyo Motor Show 2015 is the current scene to some of the most futuristic concept vehicles revving throughout the automotive industry.
However, if you're looking for one of the most unique — not to mention, peculiar — concepts of them all, look no further than Honda's Wander Stand.
The golf cart-looking concept fits two passengers — who can sort of half-sit and half-stand in the vehicle's cramped frame — and the Japanese automaker intends for it to be an autonomous car, as reported by Engadget. The website adds that the concept's steering and navigation will be controlled via voice commands. It also features partial doors and an infotainment system.
How quickly the self-driving technology soars in popularity could decide the fate over whether the Wander Stand ever hits public roads or not. Nevertheless, the vehicle's radical dimensions should really hit you upon first glance.
According to Auto World News, the compact vehicle stands over six feet tall at 72.8 inches, while being 49.2 inches wide and 78.4 inches long. The auto site adds that Honda's Omni Traction Drive System allows the concept to even drive diagonally or laterally.
Honda gave the vehicle its name, billing it as "Wander," as in "wander around freely." As a complementary concept, Honda has also rolled out the Wander Walker, a scooter-like four-wheeler designed to freely move among pedestrians.
The Wander Stand sort of reminds us of the Smart Car, although the former is significantly taller. It will be interesting to see if its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show sparks any kind of demand for the vehicle to officially hit Honda's factory lines.
Honda has already revealed its Clarity Fuel Cell hydrogen-powered sedan at the annual car show.
